How to set a fair late fee
A late fee should encourage on-time payment, not punish. Common approaches are a small amount per day after a grace period (for example, ₹10/day after 5 days), a flat charge (₹50 after the 10th), or a percentage (2% of the fee). Many owners also set a maximum.
Only charge a late fee if you told members about it in advance, ideally in writing at admission. And keep in mind any rules that apply to your type of institution.
